Pearson Test of English

Pearson test of English is a international computerized test which is being conducted worldwide by Pearson. It consist four modules namely speaking, reading, listening, and writing. All the tasks are asked to attempt on a computer. It is accepted by so many educational institutions in abroad. It is also being preferred to apply for Permanent residency of Australia and New Zealand.

 

Speaking

Read Aloud:- A text appears on a screen and student is asked to speak.

Repeat Sentence:- Student has to listen a sentence, and then has to repeat.

Describe Image:- An image will appear on a screen. Students are asked to speak for 40 seconds.

Retell Lectures:- A student has to listen a lecture for 1-3 min, and then has to retell that lecture in 40 seconds.

Answer Short Questions:- Some common questions are asked, a student has to answer in a one word.

 

Writing

Summarize Written Text:- A passage of 300 words will appear on a screen. Students are asked to write a short summary of 5-75 words in 10 mins.

Write Essay:- Students are asked to write an essay between 200-300 words in a 20 minutes.

 

Reading

Multiple Choice, Choose single Answer:- Students have to look on a text in order to select only one response from multiple.

Multiple Choice, Choose Multiple Answer:- Students have to look on a text in order to select more than one response from multiple.

Re-order Paragraphs:- Several text appears on a screen in a random order, students are asked to put in a correct order.

Reading fill in the blank:- A text appears in a several gaps on a screen, Drag words from the box below to fill the blank.

Reading and Writing:- Fill in the blanks:- A text appears on screen with several gaps, fill in each gap from a drop-down list of response options.

 

Listening

Summarize Spoken text:- Students listen a recording of 2 min, and they are asked to write a 50-70 word summary

Multiple choice, choose multiple answers:- Students listen a recording, answer a multiple-choice question on the content or tone of the recording by selecting more than one response.

Fill in the blanks:- a listening transcript will be played itself; from a given text pupils are asked to fill gap.

Highlight correct summary:- After listening to a recording, students have to choose the paragraph that best summarizes the recording.

Multiple choice, choose single answer:- After listening to a recording, answer a multiple-choice question on the content or tone of the recording by selecting one response.

Select missing word:- After listening to a recording, select the missing word that completes the recording from a list of options

Highlight incorrect words:- The transcript of a recording appears on screen. While listening to the recording, identify the words in the transcript that differ from what is said

Write from dictation:- After listening to a recording of a sentence, type the sentence
